STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – State Representative John Gillette, Chairman of the House Committee on Federalism, Elections & Military Affairs, today issued the following statement commending Mohave County Recorder Lydia Henry for her office’s lawful and proactive voter roll maintenance efforts:

“I want to publicly thank Mohave County Recorder Lydia Henry and her staff for their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to election integrity through proactive voter roll maintenance.

 As part of routine and lawful voter list maintenance, the Recorder’s Office has contacted 3,998 voters whose registrations reflected out-of-state mailing addresses, providing them the opportunity to verify, update, or cancel their registration as appropriate. This is exactly how the system is supposed to work: transparent, orderly, and grounded in statute.

Maintaining accurate voter rolls is not partisan; it is foundational. Clean voter rolls:

• Ensure only qualified electors participate in Arizona elections.
• Reduce returned mail and administrative waste.
• Improve election efficiency and public confidence.
• Protect the rights of lawful voters by safeguarding the integrity of the process.

Recorder Henry’s actions demonstrate responsible leadership and adherence to Arizona law. She is setting the example for county recorders across the state by doing the hard, often thankless work required to keep voter records current and accurate.

Election integrity begins long before Election Day. It begins with disciplined administration, statutory compliance, and the courage to do what is right—even when it is politically inconvenient. Mohave County is better served because of Recorder Henry’s dedication.
