STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives Steve Montenegro issued the following response to the Governor’s State of the State Address:

“Governor Hobbs’ State of the State Address once again highlighted an agenda that does not align with the priorities of most Arizonans.  Over the past two years, the governor has pursued a vision for our state that voters decisively rejected in the most recent election, choosing instead to strengthen Republican majorities in the state legislature.

“House Republicans are honored by the trust Arizonans have placed in us.  We are committed to preserving the American Dream by creating opportunities for families to succeed, ensuring public safety through strong border security and enforcement of the law, and protecting individual freedoms by standing up for the God-given rights guaranteed by our Constitution.

“Our Majority Plan focuses on advancing policies that promote economic growth, empower parents in their children’s education, secure our elections, hold government accountable, and strengthen communities.  We are ready to lead with purpose, determination, and a clear focus on delivering results that reflect the values of Arizona families.

“The contrast is clear: where the governor offers policies that may play well in California, Republicans offer leadership grounded in Arizona’s DNA.  A DNA guided by a frontier spirit whereby our God-given freedoms reign as supreme, not the unchecked wish list of a bureaucratic big government model.

“The time is now.  Republicans stand ready to deliver.  The people of our state deserve no less, and we are ready to work.”
