STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – A bill sponsored by House Majority Leader Michael Carbone to fully exempt 100% service-connected disabled veterans from property taxes was passed by the Arizona House with strong bipartisan support last week. HB2672 provides long-overdue relief to those who have made immense sacrifices for the country by ensuring they and their surviving spouses can remain in their homes without the burden of property taxes.

“Our veterans risk everything to defend our freedoms, and for those with total service-connected disabilities, that sacrifice doesn’t end when they return home,” said Majority Leader Carbone. “This bill ensures that Arizona honors these heroes by eliminating property taxes on their homes, giving them the security and stability they deserve. The House Republican Majority is focused on reducing the tax burden on Arizonans, and HB2672 delivers real relief to those who have given so much for our nation.”

Under current law, disabled veterans receive only a partial property tax exemption, with strict limits based on income and assessment values. HB2672 removes those restrictions, fully exempting homes owned by veterans who are rated 100% disabled due to service-related injuries. It also extends this exemption to their surviving spouses, as long as the spouse remains in the home and does not remarry.

HB2672 advances Arizona’s economic strength by supporting veterans and their families while reinforcing the state’s commitment to low taxes and financial security for those who have served. It aligns with the House Majority Plan by protecting Arizona homeowners and ensuring property tax relief that benefits communities across the state.

The bill has been sent to the Senate for further consideration.
